Planning legislation covers a number of different forms of development for which formal approval is required. There are a range of application forms and types (i.e. Householder, Full, Advertisement, Listed Building).
You can make your application online through the Planning Portal or by post using the relevant application forms. For ease of access these are displayed by following the relevant links to the left side of this page.
Pre-Application Advice
Before submitting a formal planning application you can ask the Development Management team for informal views on the work you wish to do. Such discussions are encouraged as they can often speed up the application process, encourage and support good schemes and help to keep your costs down. You can download Pre-Application Forms via the Planning Advice section.
Supporting Information
Your application will need to be accompanied by all necessary supporting information in order to make it 'valid'. This will include the fully completed application form, necessary planning fee and drawings/plans to a recognised metric scale and information relevant to the application. For more information on level and type of information that will be required for your application please consult the Welsh Government Circular 002/12.
Application and Pre-Application Fees
Planning application fees are set at a National level by Welsh Government and these were recently increased by 15% on 1st October 2015 under The Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications, Deemed Applications, and Site Visits) (Wales) Regulations 2015.
Fees for pre-applications were introduced at a national level by Welsh Government in March 2016.
